Tasman District Council’s LIM service brings together district and regional information held by Council. Council recommends requesting a LIM before finalising a purchase and comparing the property file with the actual building and activities. For rural or semi-rural property, confirm water source and rights, wastewater capacity, legal access, productive land constraints and relevant resource consents with your lawyer and qualified advisers.

Council notes that not every hazard has a map and that a LIM conveys known natural-hazard information. Mapping is not a substitute for site assessment. Obtain specialist advice where terrain, waterways, coastal exposure, retaining, drainage or proposed development raises questions.
